Founder's Letter

Having spent many years as a member of this community, I found that there was a need for small intimate psychotherapy facility.  My vision was to provide a center where the level of care is of a high caliber and the focus is on personalized treatment for each client's and family's needs.

Along with all the advances in psychiatry and with medicine in general, also comes the downside of rote managed care and the depersonalization of the psychotherapy process.  Much of the research shows that the sole most important component of successful treatment is the relationship and connection between client and provider, be that the psychotherapist or the psychiatrist.

In 2000, I set out to provide a serene and respectful environment where each individual knows that s/he has our undivided attention and commitment to assist in the healing and recovery process.  Nothing is formulaic at Many Gates, but instead we listen deeply to each person's situation and do our best to utilize our expertise and resources to arrive at the best possible treatment to meet the needs of the client.

At Many Gates Healing Arts Center, we recognize that each person's path is different and we are here to provide direction and guidance along the way.  We know that sometimes the path can get dark and have many twisty turns in it and that a light bearer can provide hope and relief along the journey.  We believe that the majority of suffering caused by psychological issues and addictions can be alleviated with the proper foundation and coping skills and we are here to provide the fundamentals and tools for the journey.  We hope that we can be of assistance to you along your path.

In gratitude,

Alison L. Schor, MA, LMFT, LPC, RDT
